PM Modi inaugurates Param Rudra supercomputers
Param Rudra supercomputers: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled three indigenously developed Param Rudra supercomputers, marking a significant leap in India’s computational capabilities. These high-performance systems, deployed under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM), are located in Delhi, Pune, and Kolkata. With a total investment of ₹130 crores, these supercomputers are set to accelerate advancements in key areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, material science, and earth sciences.
The Param Rudra systems are specifically designed to handle complex computational challenges across various scientific domains. Pune’s Giant Metre Radio Telescope (GMRT) will use them to study Fast Radio Bursts, while the Delhi-based Inter-University Accelerator Centre will further research in atomic physics. Meanwhile, Kolkata’s S.N. Bose Centre will lead studies in cosmology and climate science.
In conjunction with the Param Rudra launch, PM Modi also inaugurated a specialized high-performance computing system focused on improving weather and climate forecasting. This system is expected to enhance India’s disaster management and urban planning capabilities through more accurate predictions, benefiting sectors such as agriculture and public safety.
This launch aligns with India’s vision of becoming a global leader in technology and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat), further boosting its standing in the global supercomputing landscape
