MP gang rape incident: In a tragic incident near Jam Gate in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, two trainee army officers and their female friends were attacked while on a late-night trip. The assault occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 12, 2024, when a group of armed men targeted the officers and gang-raped one of their female friends.

The officers, undergoing the Young Officers (YO) course at the Infantry School in Mhow, had driven to a picnic spot with their friends. Around 2:30 AM, they were ambushed by six to seven assailants. One officer and a woman were held hostage at gunpoint while the other officer was sent to arrange a ransom. However, the attackers assaulted the hostages before the police could arrive.

Upon receiving the officer’s call for help, a team was dispatched to the scene, but the attackers fled upon spotting the police. The injured officers and the victims were taken to a local hospital, where it was confirmed that one woman had been gang-raped. The police have arrested two of the suspects and are actively searching for the remaining culprits.

The police have registered cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for charges including gang rape, extortion, and assault. Investigations are ongoing to bring all responsible to justice.
